About MJFLA:
Milwaukee Jewish Free Loan Association (MJFLA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation established in 2009 to reach out with a helping hand in service to those in the Greater Milwaukee area. With a community supported revolving loan fund, MJFLA provides interest-free, short-term loans on a non-sectarian basis. Members actively participate by watching as their contributions are recycled again and again ... funding loans, being repaid, and funding more loans.
Our Mission:
Milwaukee Jewish Free Loan Association offers a hand-up instead of a handout, promoting self-sufficiency with dignity. Offering interest-free loans instead of charity, the program seeks to fill a gap in our social service network by furthering the concept of Gemilut Chesed (acts of loving-kindness). MJFLA provides confidential loans on a non-sectarian basis to people whose needs meet established criteria and who are unable to obtain loans from conventional sources. As loans are repaid, MJFLA recycles those funds into new loans.
Vision Statement:
Milwaukee Jewish Free Loan Association sees a future in which self-reliant members of the community, finding themselves in a time of financial need, benefit from interest-free loans provided by a revolving loan fund supported by a network of community members. MJFLA is the platform that enables this vision.
